Frequently Asked Questions

Do you bill directly to insurance?

Yes, we offer direct billing to many extended health benefit providers. If your plan allows it, we’ll submit your claim on your behalf so you don’t have to pay out of pocket for the full session cost. If your provider isn’t eligible for direct billing, we’ll still give you a detailed receipt so you can easily submit it for reimbursement. If you’re unsure about your coverage, we’re happy to help you look into it.

How much does a therapy session cost in Ontario?

The cost of therapy in Ontario typically ranges from $150 to $500 per hour, but this can vary based on the therapist’s qualifications and experience. If you’re curious about what influences these costs or how to choose the right therapist, our blog offers more insights to help you make an informed decision. It’s always a good idea to ask about fees during your first consultation.

How do I know if I need therapy?

You might benefit from therapy if you’re experiencing sleep problems, stress at work or school, struggles in relationships, or mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, addictions, or PTSD. Therapy offers tools and support to help you navigate these issues and improve your well-being.

Are Ontario therapists covered by OHIP?

OHIP covers therapy provided by medical doctors, such as psychiatrists. Other professionals, like psychologists, social workers, or psychotherapists, may offer free services if they are part of government-funded hospitals, clinics, or community programs, or through employee assistance plans. Private therapy, however, is generally not covered by OHIP.
